The gender pay gap has reduced drastically since the Equal Pay Act of 1963. However, in recent years the gap has been closing much slower. This video and post explores what factors influence the gender pay gap, like race, disability, education, and cultural norms. As well as what we need to do to accelerate equality.
Since slavery, the Black female body has been perceived as a threat and has been treated accordingly. The prominent stereotypes of Black women that have grown stronger over time portray Black women as needing to be policed and surveilled.
The sisterhood and support I saw on Sex Education, immediately reminded me of second-wave feminism and the tactics women used during this time. But, don’t you dare think we’re going to talk about second-wave feminism without a conversation about race. I mean, the civil rights movement was happening at the same time folks.
By age ten, 80% of girls have been on a diet. Dieting culture is all around us. Diets are the norm. But, are they healthy?
